OLIVER TWIST : Old Sally’s Story

The matron at the workhouse where Oliver had been sent was just having tea; Mrs. Corney heard a knock on the door. It was Mrs. Corney asked Mr. Bumble to stay for tea. Mr. Bumble just said yes. Then, they sat down at a round table by the fire. Mr. Bumble was moving his chair closer and closer to Mrs. Corney. Then, he wiped his lips and kissed her. Then, they heard a knock on the door. It was a poor women from the workhouse said that Old Sally wanted to say something important to Mrs. Corney before she dies. Mrs. Corney sat by old sally’s bed, Old Sally said to her that she nursed pretty young women, the pretty women gave birth to a boy and died.  Sally stole gold from the women. She trusted Sally to treat her baby better and Sally said would only help that poor child, named Oliver. Before Sally continued her story, she died. Then, Mr. Bumble went out to Mr. Sowerberry’s to order a coffin for old Sally.
Fagin worried because Toby returned alone from the robbery. He worried about what happened to Oliver and Bill. He tried to find out if anyone had news of them. But no one knew about them. When he had turned his steps toward home, a dark figure approached him. The men, named Monks, became angry when he heard news about Oliver. He worried about if Oliver was dead. He asked to Fagin why he didn’t get him into picking pockets, like the other boys. Fagin explained that Oliver was not like other boys. Then, they both walked all around the place but found no one.
