Logbook Reading 3 : the Count of Monte Cristo (chapter11)

        Dante was successful to make his enemies fall.  In a few days, in the newspaper contained articles which about a terrible accusation Fernand de Morcerf. The article said that Fernand betrayed  the Greek leader, Ali Pasha. The article was an anonymous writer and no one knew who made that article.  Fernand called to court to give explanation about that. He told how he had bravely tried to defend Ali Pasha against the Turks. Then the committee called a witness , Haydee. She cried and said that Fernand was the man who betrayed her father. The committee judged culpable of the deed. Albert was angry when he heard this news. Albert knew that Danlars wrote to Greece for information at the request of the Count of Monte Cristo. Then, he sent note to Dantes. The note about he was challenging Dante to a duel the following morning. Mercedes knew about that and she went to see Dantes. She said to Dantes that did not kill her son. Dantes did not want to kill her son, he just want revenge against Fernand but Albert had challenged him to a duel. And Dantes showed her the latter that Danglars had written and Fernand had mailed. When Mercedes read the letter she cried and begging Dante’s forgiveness. Mercedes asked Dantes to did not kill her son, she did not want to see the man she loved , would become the murderer of her son.  Dantes  promised Mercedes that he did not kill her son.  In the morning, Dantes and Albert met to duel in the woods. Albert asked Dantes to accept his apology, he had learned of the terrible things his father did to Dantes. Fernand grew angry when he saw Dantes because he accused Dantes of telling lies about him .  Then, Fernand saw Mercedes and Albert were getting into a carriage but they did not see him. Fernand felt this world was crasing down around him when  he heard Mercedes said that this home was no longer their home and they would use her father’s name, Herrera. Then, Fernand took his gun and fired one shot, he was dead. Dantes was at Danglar’s house for the wedding of Danglar’s daughter Eugenie and Andrea Cavalcanti. Villefort not yet arrived because Dantes had sent Villefort Caderousse’s note about Cavalcanti. Suddenly a policeman entered the salon to caught Benedetto. Then  Benedetto saw the policeman, he moved closer to the door and ran away. But the police found him later and arrested him. Dantes plan to make Danglars fall was proceeding smoothly and perfectly. And now the Danglars bank’s cash reserves were running low. Danglars made plans to flee the country and would take money was left in the bank. Danglar’s life was falling apart. Now, villefort was the only one of Dante’s enemies. He visited Villefort’s house to met Valentine. Dantes gave her a small pil and told her it just make her asleep, and would no longer be in danger. Then, Valentine swallowed the pill and felt into a deep sleep.  Everyone thought that she died, and the doctor said she was died. They were crushed, when they heard the news.  After that, the doctor began to test the liquid in Valentine’s glass.  When Villefort was busy preparing for Benedetto’s investigation, Noirtier told him that the murders in his house was Villefort’s wife, Heloise. He shocked with the news and he accuse his wife that killed his daughter with poison.  Heloise tried to explain that she was not guilty. But Villefort did not believe her and he went to the court to demand the death penalty for a murderer.

         In the courtroom, Benedetto was on trial. When the police interrogated him about his name, he said that he had many names but he just have one father, named Villefort. He told to the police that his father tried to burry him alive, and he lived a life of crime. That was the reason he became a murderer. Villefort startled when he heard someone in the courtroom said that he believe that Villefort have now been punished enough for his evil deeds. Villefort supposed that voice was the Count of Monte Cristo. When he looked again, he remembered that was Edmond Dantes. Dantes was success to revenge all his enemies. And  for the first, he began to wonder if he had gone too far in carrying out his revenge.

Logbook Reading 3 : The Count of Monte Cristo ( Chapter 10 )

               Caderousse wanted to get more money from Benedeto. The 200 francs he received each month from Benedeto were not enough. Caderousse visited Benedeto in his hotel room to ask him to get more money. But Benedeto did not give him anymore. Caderousse said to  Benedeto that he wanted to know where the Count of Monte Cristo keeps his  money and he wanted to know the way to get into his house. Benedetto told him what he wanted to know. But after that, Benedetto wrote a note to the count. The note told about that an enemy would break into the count’s house this night. After Dantes read the note from Benedeto, he prepared to catch the thief.  Then he heard a footstep on the balcony, Dantes changed into his priest’s outfit.  When Caderousse had been trying to break into the desk, he looked up and startled. Caderousse said to the priest that he wanted the priest gave him the diamond for live as he want.  The priest asked to him that the diamond was not enough for him, either. And he wanted Caderousse told him everything, started with how Caderousse learned the floor plan of this house.  Caderousse began to tell Dantes about Benedetto that young criminal had fooled everyone into thinking he was the rich young Andrea Cavalcanti and he got money from Benedeto. And Benedeto would marry Eugenie.  Caderousse did not allow him to get away everything that Caderousse want. Suddenly Caderousse pulled out a knife and thrust it at Dantes. But  Dantes was wearing a metal vest under his priest’s robe. Dantes grabbed hold of Caderousse’s arm and twisted it. Dantes said to Caderousse to write a note to Danglars that everything he told to Dantes. Then, Caderousse wrote a note to Danglars, told all about Benedetto and what he’d been up to.  After he had finished, Dantes took the note and Caderousse went out the window and climbed to the ground. Caderousse saw Benedeto and he said to Dantes that  let him add something to that note. I wanted to be sure that Danglars knows who stabbed him. Dantes said  that would call a doctor for him. Caderousse thought that was too late for him and why did not Dantes stop Benedetto from stabbing him. And Dante’s answer was God gave him good health, work, and good friends but he threw everything away. God sent him diamond but he became a murderer, and  If he were truly sorry for what he had done, Dantes would have helped him. And Dantes asked question to Dantes that he did not recognize him, Dantes told him that he was Edmond Dantes, one of Caderousse’s oldest friends, Caderousse startled to hear about that.  “Forgive me” ,The last word that Caderousse said. 

Logbook Reading 3 : The Count of Monte Cristo ( chapter 9 )

               Danglars invited Dantes to visit the Count of Monte Cristo. Danglars had no idea who the count was Dantes. Dantes explained to Danglars that he might have to borrow millions of francs but in fact Dante wanted Danglars bank to give him unlimited credit. Danglars quickly agreed to Dante's request.
               The next day , the illegitimate son of Villefort, Benedeto visited Dante's house. Benedeto had been abandoned by his father at an early age and he had become a criminal. Dantes said to Benedeto that he wanted to become a rich young man, wear the finest clothes, and be invited to the best salons, Dantes would give it for him. If he agreed, Benedeto name would be Andrea Cavalcanti and he would have all the money they want. He learned quickly. In late one night, he saw a familiar face. He met his friend, Caderousse, the man who had sharedn his prison cell. But Caderousse though that Benedeto being a little greedy. Caderousse asked to Benedeto that he need some money. If Benedeto did not help Caderousse, he would have to tell the Count of Monte Cristo about his own crimes. Then, Benedeto agreed to pay him 200 francs a month to keep him quite. After that, Bendeto become a rich man but he knew as Andrea Cavalcanti. At this time, Danglar's bank lost a lot of money when one his businesses failed. The count had told him that Cavalcanti was rich man. Then, Danglars announced to his daughter, Eugenie that she would marry Andrea Cavalcanti.
               One morning, Valentine's grandmother, the Marquise was crying. She told to Villefort that her husband died at down and she told that she were old and she would be alone because Valentine and Franz must get married. She wanted all her money would give to her granddaughter. The Marquise was got sick, Villefort was afraid that Valentine would get all of her money. When Franz came to the Villefort house, the Valentine's grandfather gave some papers to him. Franz saw that the papers were dated February 5, 1815, the date of his father's death. The papers told about why his father died. He suddenly threw down this papers and he cried. He said to Monsieur that he could not marry with the granddaughter of the man who killed her father. After that, maximilian and Valentine heard the servant asked to help. They run out to call for the doctor. But it was late to help the poor man, he was dead within the hours. The doctor said that he died because the murder of Monsieur was in Villefort's house.

Logbook Reading 2 : the Count of Monte Cristo ( chapter 8 )

           After Dante arrival in Paris, Albert's home would be the first place Dante visited. Then he visited home Albert's parents, Mercedes and Fernand. Fernand smiled and shook Dante's hand. When Mercedes entered the room, her face turned white. Mercedes thanked him for his kindness because he saved her son. She asked to Dante spending the day with her family. Dante explained to her, he had businees to attend to. Then he bowed once more and took his leave.

           Haydee, a beautiful young Greek woman was waiting Dantes at his new home in Paris. Dante had rescued her from slavery in Turkey, when she was only child. Dante love her was like a father's love her daughter. But Haydee love Dante was not like daughter's love her father. Dantes carried out the next step in his plan. In Dante's carriage were a woman and young boy. Then Dante led them into his house. The woman cried because her son was sick. Then Dante was taking a small bottle from his pocket, he put drop of red liquid on the boy's lips. Dante said to the women that her son was not sick but he had only fainted. The women introduced herself, she was Heloise de Villfort. Dante knew who she was, she was the second wife of Gerard de Villefort. The next day, Villefort come to visit Dante. He had come to thank Dantes for saving his wife and son. Later that day , the lovely daughter of Villefort and his first wife met Maximilian Morrel in the garden of the Villefort house. She told him that she was to marry with Franz d'Epinay. Her father made this plans for her but it made her sad because she only love Maximillian.

Logbook Reading 2 : the Count of Monte Cristo ( chapter 7 )

             One day two rich young men from Paris, Albert de Morcerf, the son of Mercedes and Fernand, and his friend Franz d'Epinay came to Rome for the Carnival and came to have a good time. But they were not happy because there were no carriages to rent. The hotelkeeper told them that The Count of Mobte Cristo had offered to share his carriage with them. Albert and Franz visited the count in the hotel. The room of the count filled with expensive works of art, and there were costly rugs on the floor. The Count of Monte Cristo was Edmond Dantes. He greeted the young men. After he greeted the young men, Dante invited them to come with him to an execution of two young criminals, a young bandit and a murderer. They would have his head cut off. Dante's furious made them uncomfortable.

              Dantes and his two young guest went to the Carnival, they put on their costumes and masks. When they came to the carnival, Albert threws flowers and one of the women caught the blossom and she lifted her mask. The next day, a women sent note to Albert, suggesting that they met. A women and Albert went to the Carnival together. The women who had met Albert was Luigi Vampa's girlfriend. Franz began to worry because he received a note from Luigi. It said that Albert would die and Franz asked to the Count of Monte Cristo to help. The count helped Franz to meet Luigi to save Albert. Then Dantes explained to Luigi that Albert was his friend and Luigi set Albert free. Albert tried to thank Dantes for save him and went to Paris with Dantes. Franz had a bad feeling about Dantes but Albert believed that Dantes was a good person. Actually, everything that had happened to Albert and Franz had been part of Dante's plan of revenge.

Logbook Reading 2 : The Count of Monte Cristo ( chapter 6 )

           One day, Dante disguised as a priest and went to Caderousse, his old neighbor. During Dante in prison, Caderousse became the owner of a small country inn in the south of France. Caderousse would never guess that the priest was Edmond Dante. He visit Caderousse was to find out why he imprisoned. When Dante asked Caderousse to tell him about why he was in prison, Caderrouse's face grew pale. Caderrouse said that Dantes troubles were none of God's doing but the work of two evil men, Danglars and Fernand. Danglars and Fernand were the ones who accused Dante of working for Napoleon. Caderrouse also told him that Dante's father was dead. Dante's father died of sadness, waiting for his son who never return. Although, Monsieur Morrel and Mercedes brought a doctor but it was too late. Mercedes married with Fernand, and had a son, Albert. She was one of the richest ladies in Paris. Monsieur Morrel had a sad story. His last and best ship, the Pharaon, had gone down in a storm. He became bankrupt. Dante was sad and had a tear from his eye. Then Dante gave the diamond to Caderousse and said goodbye to the amazed and delighted Caderousse and rode off.

Logbook Reading 2 : The Count of Monte Cristo ( chapter 5 )

                After a long swam Dante finally found the land and with difficulty he climbed out of the sea onto a rocky shore. He arrived at the isle of Tiboulen. When he fell asleep, he suddenly awakened by a loud noise. Dante saw a fishing boat crashes against the rock. Dante wanted to help them but when Dante got there, the fisherman had disappeared. The next day, Dante saw an Italian ship. He gave signal and then they stopped. Dante did not want them to know that Dante was the escaped prisoners. He told them he was a fisherman.Then Dante grabbed the cap and put it on hishead, and then two crews of Italin ship pulled Dantes out of the water.

                He was hard to believe he had been a prisoner for 14 years. He thought about the Mercedes and he want meet Mercedes. One day the captain had arranged a meeting with another crew at the Isle of Monte Cristo. Dante was very impatient to go there. The isle of Monte Cristo was an uninhabited island. Nothing lived on there except wild goats. When the crews did their trading, Dante went hunting. Dante hunting goats and brought it back for the crew. And every day when the crews did their trading he explore the island. Then he lied that he injured and could not stand up, so that the crew leave him alone there. After a Italian ship had disappeard from view. Dante got up and started looking for treasure. The isle of Monte Cristo was a small island, so it was easy to Dante look for the treasure. He did not believe to see piles of bright gold coins, gold ingots and jawels in his hand.

Logbook Reading: The Count of Monte Cristo (chaper 4 )

         One day, Dante startled to hear scraping noise from the wall. Dante suspected it sounds a prisoner was trying to dig his way out. Sound came from the wall every night, but every time Dante took stones and knocked on the wall. The scraping noise stopped. And the next day, the sound came again. Dante was curious then he used the iron handle as a tool to dig the wall. After several days of digging stones, he had a loosened a large stone. Behind the wall there was another prisoner. The prisoner was a priest named Father Faria.

         After the many years, Dante felt happy. Because he was not going to be alone. Dante and Father Faria become friend. Father Faria taught many things to Dante. Dante and Father Faria made a plan to escape. They would run away by climbing through the window their cells. But before they excute their escape, Father Faria was died. Before he dead Father Faria gave a treasure map located on the island of Moto which would own by Edmond Dantes when he passed away before he could escape. The death of his friend in prison that he used to escape. He moved the body Father Faria to his cell and into the body bag.

Logbook Reading : The Count Of Monte Cristo (chapter 3)

      During a few days Dante stayed in the jail cell. Dante was trying to prove that he was innocent, but no one of those who believed. Dante was getting angry, they gave food Dante, but Dante ate nothing. Dante asked for help to guard, to write a letter to Mercedes. Dante would pay whatever they wanted, but the guards laughed at him. Then Dante moved to the dungeon. The months turned into years, ten years past and Dante was angry. Dante was angry because he knew nothing of what happened on the outside. Dante felt very sad and missing mercedes. He did not know what happened to Mercedes. And also Mercedes did not know what happened to Dantes. And for the first time Dante lost hope for free. He was crying and lamenting the fate. He did not eat, he did not drink, and he was getting worse.

Logbook Reading : The Count Of Monte Cristo (chapter 2)

      Dante and Mercedes shocked when they heard load knock on the door. Then a uniformed man burst into the room and they arrest Dante. Dante shocked because he was not making a mistake. He accused of being a member of Napoleon. Before he was dragged to a carriage, he said to Mercedes that he would clear up it. Dante trust Villefort could help him to clear up this misunderstanding. But Villefort saw Dante as a springboard his career. And then Villefort throwed Dante into jail on charges of treason to the king.

Logbook Reading : The Count Of Monte Cristo (chapter 1)

One day the ship named "Pharaoh" will be anchored in the harbor at the French city of Marseilles. Pharaon sailing with sadness because they were lost Captain Leclere. He died of fever, and they had to bury him at sea. And the ship needed a new captain. Monsier Morrell wanted Dantes who became captain.  And it made Danglars was envy because Dante only 19 years old. Monsier Morrel wanted to invite Dantes dinner at his home, but dante refused it because dante must visit his father, then married with Mercedes Herera and he must travel to Paris to deliver a letter to Bertrand in Elba. Dante promised to back in 3 months. Dante was very lucky in his young age he became a captain and married a beautiful girl, and it made Caderousse, Danglars and Fernand jealous.  Caderouse and Danglars hated Dante because Dante would be a captain at his young age. Fernand hated dante because he married with the girl who Fernand loved, Mercedes Harrel. And they conspired to trap Dante to jail. Danglars reported that Dante is a member of Napoleon
